Age of exposure and subject/object asymmetries when <i>wh</i>-movement goes rightward

چکیده

Abstract We report an experiment addressing the comprehension of LIS interrogatives in three adult populations with different times exposure to sign language: native signers, early and late signers. investigate whether delayed language affects there is advantage for subject dependencies over object dependencies, as systematically reported spoken languages. The answer first question positive: evidence that natives outperform non-native confirming permanent effects even decades after childhood. However, performance was lower than all groups participants. discuss several possible reasons this unexpected finding.
